Last week in Apia, clashes between students from Maluafou and St. Joseph’s College reemerged.
However, these disturbances intensified again on Monday afternoon after school.
The Savalalo bus station was the site of these disruptive scenes, as vehicles and pedestrians went about their normal activities, including young children selling goods to raise money for their families.
Attempts to get a police statement on whether any students were charged were unsuccessful. However, mobile phone videos circulating on social media showed one student from Maluafou College being injured.
Many police officers arrived at the scene after the situation had calmed down, with the cause of the clashes still unknown.
It is believed that installing CCTV cameras in busy areas of town, like the Savalalo bus station, will aid authorities in their investigations.
The HD footage captured by these cameras will clearly show the faces of those present during the disturbance, including the students responsible for the incident.
