Tuaimato, Samoa – According to a statement by Lakapi Samoa, Manu Samoa Head Coach Mase Mahonri Schwalger has been charged with multiple sexual allegations and was released on bail on Thursday, 26th September 2024.
Lakapi Samoa has confirmed that the matter has been reported to the police, and they are fully cooperating with the investigation.
Mase Mahonri Schwalger, who was appointed as the head coach of Manu Samoa in April this year, is a former professional rugby player. He last played in New Zealand for the Chiefs in the Super Rugby competition and captained Samoa during the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
Schwalger was taken in for questioning and formally charged at the police headquarters in Apia. In their statement, Lakapi Samoa reaffirmed their commitment to upholding high standards of conduct and providing a safe and respectful environment while the investigation is ongoing.
Lakapi Samoa has stated they will not be commenting further out of respect for the privacy and rights of all parties involved.
